Adhesive Gas Cylinder Shoulder Labels
Cylinders must always be properly labeled. If there are unmarked or improperly marked cylinder, immediately contact the person in charge of the cylinder and inform them of the danger.
Gas cylinder labels must comply with the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Do not remove or deface Labels on cylinders. Below is an example of how to read the label:
1. Gas name (excluding purity grade, located elsewhere on the cylinder).
2. UN number. Used to identify materials.
3. Hazardous diamonds indicating gas flammability and/or toxicity.
4. Warning section. Includes hazards associated with gas and cylinders.
5. First aid. Tells how to help heal people suffering from gas exposure. Be sure to call 911 when someone is affected. Secure area before Approach a person who appears to be affected.
